After a relatively quiet week or two, we have more information about the second season of 13 Reasons Why. The Netflix series, which drew critics and fans for its depiction of suicide, would continue telling the same story of Hannah Baker and the aftermath of her death. In addition, the show will introduce three new characters.
The stars portraying these new characters range from Hollywood newcomers to seasoned actors. We hope that these new faces may fit right in.
Kelli O’Hara as Jackie
Tony winner Kelli O’Hara is on board to portray Jackie. With bullying being a major topic on the show, we want to see her talking with other bullied characters in “13 Reasons Why.” O’Hara is already famous for her role as Hattie in “Follies,” and as Susan in “Sweet Smell of Success.”
Allison Miller as Sonya
Allison Miller is reportedly hired to play Sonya, an ambitious and smart litigator. We feel that the addition of Allison’s character means a baseball player is going to face the consequences of his crimes. Allison previously portrayed Michelle Benjamin in “Kings,” and Sky Tate in “Terra Nova.”
Ben Lawson as Rick
Australian actor Ben Lawson is set to play Rick, the famous baseball coach at Liberty High. There is no information about how his character would fit into the story. Ben is widely famous for his role as Benjamin in “Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23,” and as Frazer in “Neighbours.”
The second season of “13 Reasons Why” picks up where Jay Asher’s book left off, while its first season opened in the weeks following Hannah Baker’s suicide. The show has been admired for teaching how teens can have issues in real life and how emotions can lead to someone ending his life.
